Parrots
California has thriving populations of parrots. Some from accidental releases decades ago when they were able to breakout of their wood cages on their flights north to supply the pet trade. When they opened the plane doors, they flew away to freedom.
They breed and even cross breed. It is hard to tell from this photo the type of parrot it is. I suspect it is a Lilac-crowned parrot since we saw a pair in the same area several weeks ago.
Parrots have to teach their youngsters all of the skills they need to survive.
