Pollok pond
A dreamy sort of day today as I contemplate emerging from lockdown, which is lovely but also a little daunting for reasons I can't quite fathom; perhaps an uneasiness with the approach in England, and the fact that it is masking all the huge missteps and poor decisions that were made.
This blip was taken in the upper pond as I was trying to catch something else - a piece of detritus that looked like a old fashioned wooden duck, a child's toy with a bright red ring around its neck. Prosaically it turned out to be a red top milk carton sandwiched between some wood and foliage. I liked the ambiguity of the one I chose for today, it just seems to sum up how I'm feeling.
I should add that one of the alterantives would have been another woodpecker - there are now several of them flying about and pecking away on the trees outside our balcony. Fledglings I think since one or two are quite small, although their colours are as vivid as the adults.
