Twenty three and a half years

That’s how long I’ve been fighting with this hedge. We finally got around to having it taken down today and replaced with a fence, which is not only low maintenance but also gives us more light and more space out front of our humble little dwelling.

As you can see from these four pictures, it’s quite a transformation. Rather like a lockdown haircut. From mad, wild, bushy Afro to something of almost skinhead proportions. One of the neighbours passing by said it was now big enough for us to have a party, probably a beach theme, which sounds like a good idea to me. Might get some stripey deckchairs out there and the barbecue and invite everyone round for a 1 metre plus socially distanced summer social.

I felt sorry for Mr T and his oppo. It was in the mid 30s today and there was no shade out front. We kept them plied with Diet Coke and cold water but it was still hard going.

It really was very hot. The thermometer in our conservatory registered 45°C at one point, not that we spend any time in the conservatory once it tips above 20°. In this kind of weather we basically live outdoors when we are not working.

Possibility of thunderstorms to come in the next few days. Here’s hoping ...
