The Cool of the Evening
A most unusual day - we sat on the bench in front of the house in the afternoon. And did nothing, absolutely nothing. Even reading was uncomfortable, the light was too bright. A solitary contrail in the sky, first I've seen in weeks. We drank tonic (no gin!) and ate ice cream. It was very pleasant for about an hour, and then boredom set in. TM cut the grass beside the drive and rearranged my sewing room, ready for the next project when the rains come tomorrow :-(
This evening we drove over to Merton and went for a walk by the river Tweed. There were a few groups quietly socialising on the shingle beaches and one or two dog walkers. As we were leaving we met three men on bikes careering round a downhill bend on the wrong side of the road - I don't know how we missed them. Lunatics!
I took the shot on the way home, on the slopes of Pennielheugh, looking towards Lanton Hill and Ruberslaw, over a field of barley catching the evening rays.
