Smells Like Teen Spirit

Well, smells like disinfectant actually! Another small sign that things are slowly returning to normal as the wheelie bin cleaner turned up this week after a three month absence. A quick chat elicited that though he works with cleaning chemicals and on his own, he didn’t feel comfortable returning before now as he didn’t want to have to knock on doors and ask for money when people were possibly shielding or isolating. A sensible attitude and, I feel, more representative of how the majority of people have acted during this pandemic than some of the more sensational headlines would have us believe.
Never thought I’d get excited over the sight and smell of a freshly cleaned and disinfected wheelie bin, but sometimes you only appreciate things when they’re suddenly not around anymore.
