RAF
This silver powder compact belonged to my mother - open it & you can smell the 1940"s. I was given to her by my father who was a Flight-Lieutenant in the RAF before he got shipped off to the USA in June 1942 to pursue a career of serial bigamy...
It's funny to think I have half brothers & sisters scattered around at least three continents whom I shall never meet.
In 1946 my mother divorced the bigamist & set up with a Sqadron-Leader - she changed her surname by deed-poll to his & they lived in "sin" untill 1980 when the Sqadron-Leader's wife died.- I never knew about this until after her death in 1998....
Sly fox, my mother!
