many thanks to all of those who commented yesterday, there were generous words indeed:-)

for some reason the mutual admiration of the chickpea dahl and our ongoing astonishment at the veggie options available now reminded me of a time when we were going up to play some gigs in Thurso, Kirkwall and the late and lamented Aultnamain Inn. The local christians had attempted to get the Kirkwall council to ban us on the grounds, "they sacrifice babies on stage!" and when we were allowed to play they then had a prayer meeting to ask god to intervene and send some blight upon us to prevent the gig.

odd days indeed.

and now to see us reduced to punting tins of vegetarian delights when once we spread fear, panic and pythonesque misunderstanding...
