The Hunt of the Unicorn
This is the last of the seven tapestries under the above title recreated for the restoration of Stirling Castle, where I was this morning.
I was there to see a wonderful schools project, the LearningLAB which brings a new dimension to educational visits.
This particular tapestry is entitled "The Unicorn is in Captivity and No Longer Dead." The tree is a Pomegranite. The various interpretations of its' symbolism include marriage and fertility.
They all hang in the Queen's Presence Chamber and are part of a fantastic re- imagining of the public areas by Historic Scotland which make it a superb place to visit for children and adults alike.
