Larson Mill Railroad

Back in 1901, the Larson Logging Company was established and operated a mill from the Electric Ave. and the Silver Beach area. The Lake Whatcom area was rich with timber, and coal was transported from the south end of the lake from the Blue Canyon Coal Mine along with pushing logs across to the Larson mill. This last 50 ft. section of the trestle is still standing in the woods next to Whatcom Falls Park and as a kid, I had cousins who lived right next to the trestle in its better days and we spent countless hours playing on it.
