Shade on Avenida Josep Tarradellas
I worked online giving input in the morning and as it was on 'teaching 1-1', I had invited two guest speakers on into our class to show that as a way of adding variety and a change of focus in 1-1 lessons. One joined us from our front room and he talked about what for him, as a student, we’re the advantages and disadvantages of 1-1 v group classes. Our next guest joined us from a bit further afield, Oman, and she and I did a 'live listening'. Both worked well, although the trainees were very tired!
In the late afternoon I went out to meet up with Bb, who had had lunch out (yes, out, as in 'in a restaurant out', but on the restaurant's exterior patio, not inside) with some business contacts he's been working with a lot recently. All was going well and it was a lovely hot day and after a wander we decided to look for a quiet terrace to stop for a cold beer. We found one, a good distance away from other tables. Half way through the beer a señora at another table turned away from her friend and sneezed loudly and forcefully right across the space towards us. It really put me off my beer and so we paid up and left, but not before Bb talked to the señora in question, telling her that's why we were leaving. She did apologise and say she understood, but too little too late. Why are people irresponsible? Of course I understand that people still need to sneeze, but in the current climate you'd think people would sneeze into their elbow or a tissue.
