Wide Wednesday: "Long Thin Aspect"
From Coal Power to Wind Power.
My Editor and I went for a walk this morning, which gave me a chance to capture this shot from the top of the old slag heap on the site of an old coal mine beautiful landscaped hill in the Rising Sun Country Park here in North Tyneside. It's taken looking south across the River Tyne and shows the bases being made for offshore wind turbines.
It's interesting that having in the past been a source of coal for energy production, the Tyne is now becoming a major centre for wind energy. Port of Tyne is to be the onshore base for the world's largest offshore wind energy project: the Dogger Bank wind farm, which should produce electricity for 4.5 million homes.
As usual, it's best viewed large.
Thanks as always to Bobsblips for organising Widwed and to Steveng for hosting again this week.
