High-wire act
The chainsaw was in action this morning! Two, in fact, as we had two tree surgeons in for a spot of remedial slicing and dicing in the garden. This is one of the chaps on a side-branch of our eucalyptus tree, which doesn’t look as impressive as it should as the tree is growing about thirty feet down a slope. Topping out at over one hundred feet the eucalyptus was exhibiting threatening behaviour towards our down-slope neighbours during the stormy weather.
While they are here the tree surgeons are also going to take down some other trees (willow, I think) that did actually blow down over the winter. The slope is very steep and the broken trees somewhat inaccessible to the Ards Man, so it’s all go this morning!
The Ards Man will now season the eucalyptus wood and use it in his workshop. Apparently it’s inclined to split as it dries and is mostly usable in quarters of its diameter, so we’ll have to wait and see what can be designed from it.
Exciting Thursday!
