Marbled White
I was trying to shoot birds with my 600mm zoom lens when this Marbled White butterfly landed on the lavender in front of me. With a 3m minimum focus length, it wasn't ideal, but I backed away and got a glancing shot. According to "Butterfly Conservation", Marbled Whites show a marked preference for purple flowers.
I've just watched a fascinating Zoom presentation by artist Ian Davenport, and was inspired to add a few stripes, with the colours sampled from the photo.
