CannyScot's Day

Walking beside the Dichty

A warm day with some sun

In the morning, I went for my walk along the path beside the Dichty - 6 miles there and back. It was a perfect day for walking, not too hot and it was dry. Lots of friendly chats along the way.

In the afternoon I had two sessions for Listening Service. The first session was very hard for me - a young woman whom I have seen several times over the past three years, but she was in a very dark place and it seemed there was nothing I could say which helped. However, the first principle of the Service is that we are Listeners and I certainly gave her a safe space to be honest as she poured out her feelings.

The second appointment was with a young girl who also was in a dark place but who progressed to a much better place after our conversation.

Both situations confirmed my belief that people who had difficulties before Lockdown have had their situations worsen to a much greater degree.

In the evening, with my son on Zoom, I watched Liverpool, the new Premier League Champions, being well beaten by Man City, their closest rivals. My son, a Liverpool supporter was not best pleased.
