Life in a Northern Town

Day 101 - torture

Sarah and I went to Birstall to -

 - buy a sofa
 - get some sweets in IKEA
 - get something for dinner in M and S
 - consume unnecessary carbs at a drive-through

The whole thing was torture. We abandoned IKEA due to the queue being almost back to Hudds, after queueing in the rain for M and S there was a problem with the till meaning every item had to have the barcode entered manually, buying the sofa was harder than getting hold of an intercontinental ballistic missile and to top it all the card machine was broken at Krispy Kreme so we couldn’t get our donuts (eventually we did due to pure determination on my part).

We came home to a parking fine in the post - David had parked for ten minutes in the car park of a closed hotel to eat his lunch and didn’t realise there was ANPR in place. £100 for a bag of chips.

We have decided we shall never leave the house again. It’s not worth it.
