Bay Leaves
My first entry - Bay Leaves - using my trusty old Sony Ericson Phone K800 with macro facilty. f/2.8, 1/200 sec, iso - 80.
I used to be very keen amateur photographer...not a very good one I must admit...but nevertheless I had all the gadgets: zoom lens, filters, tripods etc...I even learned to develop my own black and white photos. It was fun. But that was ten years ago. I have not taken or developed a photo since. But I have always enjoyed the idea of photographs: capturing a fleeting moment in time.
In Buddhist Ideology everything around us - including us - are in a state of transience. Science too tells us that Universe is in a constant state of energy/matter transformations. Photographs for me therefore capture a fleeting instant of this transience, of this matter/energy interchange. It freezes a moment in time and no one else can capture this moment again ever. Photography is therefore a great art form. I am not therefore an artist. I just like beautiful photographs. And here on this blipfoto I am hoping to enjoy the Beauty of Photographs again and as the Poet Henry Davies wrote: Stand and Stare!
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
