These flowers have been out out in my hotel reception hall along with the flags of the delegations staying here for tomorrow's OIC Conference being hosted in Cairo by President Mohamed Morsi. OIC stands for Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. There are 27 States attending and it is the 12th such summit since OIC was launched in 1969.

I now understand why there are so many armed guards everywhere around here today. I also appreciate a Brits missing suitcase is a very low priority in all of this excitement!

I am looking forward to trading the thick piled carpeted corridors of New Cairo Five Star accommodation for the familiar feel of Porty sands beneath my feet once more!!
