On a whim I went to Pensthorpe this morning - even though that whim means booking tickets online now! I wanted to see the flamingos again as I got it wrong the other day, from my Extra you can see top left last year's chick that is getting its colours, the grey chick on the right was born this year.

Day 110 / Day 102 of Lockdown / Day 33 of Step 2 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 136 to 44,131. Globally cases pass 11,100,000 that's up 11% in only 6 days! ONS sampling from 14th to 27th June suggests that 25,000 in the UK had the virus, that's 1 in 2,200. The R rate for the UK remains at 0.7-0.9. It's thought the virus is reducing by between 2 & 5% a day. There were 29,000 excess deaths in care homes during the pandemic, rates are now in the normal range.

The PM held a briefing before we move to step 3 tomorrow in England and talked about the strategy of reducing country wide measures and dealing with local outbreaks as has already happened at a hospital at Weston-super-Mare, a meat packing factory in Kirklees and now in the community in Leicester. The 5 step plan is Monitoring; Engagement; Testing; Targeted Restrictions; Local Lockdown if needed. Local lockdown enforcement law passed by Parliament today.

A list of 70 countries has been published where English holidaymakers can travel to from 10th July without self isolating on their return. Countries not on this list include the US, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Iran, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Portugal and Sweden. Reciprocal arrangement haven't been confirmed and the list will be constantly under review. Finally in the words of Boris about the changes tomorrow 'don't overdo it.
