An evening with Haydn, Glinka, Bach & Williams

A couple years ago I had a conversation with Pall, my cello teacher, discussing how long it would take to become "really good" on the cello. He stated if one was focused and dedicated and put in "x" hours of practice per day, the goal could be achieved, in his opinion, in about 10 years. Being at an age where it feels like time is slipping through my fingers like sand, I wondered if ramping up the practice to "2x" hours per day would allow me to achieve my goal in half the time??

Now that I'm participating in a local community orchestra, I have even more music to master each week, and what a delightful and challenging variety it is, including the likes of Bach, Telemann, Haydn, Glinka and contemporary folks like John Williams. And then --- there is a new, local composer on the horizon (Rich!), who has a few cello duets in the works. With so much good music on hand, practicing is a pleasure.
