Route 150 #sustrans
In case you're wondering, Sustrans is the charitable body, making it easier for us in the UK to walk and cycle and they are custodians of the National Cycle Network, used by millions of people every year.
The promenade between Walton-on-the-Naze, Frinton-on-Sea and the route onwards to Holland-on-Sea comprises route 150. I had some concern that the beach would be busy, but it clearly wasn't and so I continued on the planned route. 40 miles in all, the ride was mostly on-road but route 150 deteriorated into old broken concrete panels and sandy dry dirt in places so a challenge for a clipped-in roadie on narrow slick tyres, one I'll probably avoid repeating. Not unsurmountable though and once back on the road, the irresistible opportunity for a smash-fest on the return home presented itself with a breeze on my back. I should be using this time off work to move on the latest DIY project in the shape of our hallway, but one does need a break!
