The Chicken Village Quest
Today, we rented a motorbike and went on a quest to search for the Chicken Village, which is 18 km outside of the city. We eventually found it and learned about the K'Ho and the Chinh people, the two ethnic minorities that live in the village.
The village got its name from the giant chicken statue, but the people don't know why the statue was built. They don't worship it because they're Christian (that's a bit anti-climatic, isn't it?). I asked if they had any other religion before Christianity, and the K'Ho lady said they were Christian for a long time and she doesn't know of any other religion before that. I have many questions left unanswered.
Afterward, we made our way to Prenn Fall, then Dalanta Fall, Cam Ly Fall, lunch and coffee break, and continued on to the Crazy House, which I absolutely LOVE, then we went on to Bao Dai's palace II and III...which were closed because we spent too much time at the Crazy House. But we agreed that the Chicken Village and the Crazy House was totally worthwhile and we didn't need to see the palaces.
Today was wonderful!
