Independence Day - 2020

Dear Diary,

When did we stop calling it Independence Day?  Now, people just say "the 4th of July".  Totally misses the point I think.  A small, rag tag, upstart country takes on the greatest army on earth and wins?  Such a thing had never happened.  Most thought the whole thing would end in shambles but here we are 245 years later a bit bloodied at the moment but still striving for that "more perfect union".  We have our work cut out for us to right the ship but I still have great faith in the American experiment and the old Stars and Stripes.  As the song says, long may she wave "o're the land of the free and the home of the brave."
