Archie the one legged pigeon

Meet Archie. Bottom left is Aggie, his missus. Two years before I took this, we watched a crow tear his leg off in flight, and he barely made it to the nearest tree. We thought he would be dead, but a week later he reappeared, hobbling on the one leg and using the opposite wing as a crutch.

Each day he would appear on the ground below the bird feeder, pecking seed off the ground but also doing press-ups. Slowly his leg moved to the centre of his body, and now he hops about with total confidence. Aggie always at his side.
