Or the spiral staircase leading to the newsroom at the New Broadcasting House. First shift for nearly a month & it started at an insanely early hour. The only compensation for this is a much quieter building & the joy of heading home again before lunchtime.
I love this staircase. It's a bit vertigo inducing when you lean over the side to take a photograph but you're rewarded with an image that resembles golden syrup being sucked down a plug hole. It's visible on camera when a contributor is being interviewed on the News Channel. How wonderful it would be if one day a troupe of modern day Tiller Girls or Boys high kicked their way down in the background as somebody was doing a two way with Tim Wilcox. Time for a nap. My imagination is running wild!
