Osprey

I was happy to see my buddy the osprey back this afternoon.  He didn't stick around long because the fireworks started early and are still going (it's 10:30).  Our neighborhood watch has already posted a lost dog (a chihuahua) scared by the fireworks.   Poor little thing.

Did anyone see the news blip about the osprey in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, flying over the beach with what looked like a shark in its talons?  It turned out to be a Spanish Mackerel but it was nearly as big as the osprey.  It made a pretty impressive bit of news.   It's moments like that where the fact that everyone has a phone/camera nowadays is really nice.  Otherwise it would never get noticed and the poor souls who tried to describe the event would never be believed.
