Storks in Germany

A friend has just sent me this photo from Fürth, where I used to live. I contributed something towards restoring the industrial chimney on which the local storks nested, and so my name was engraved on this plaque. At least I have achieved something in life, I told myself. I had forgotten that the junior school kids' painting of a stork had been reproduced on the plaque. It was so exciting to see the storks back every year in the middle of town - but near meadows adjoining the river, so with plenty of frogs locally. The extra is a photo (Creative Commons, photographer's name not found) from the web. Outside the picture to the right the river bank with some wetland is where they roam, not so much on the sports field. There is currently a breeding pair there.
