Pied Wagtail

I think this is a female - they are greyer than the males.

Pied Wagtails are elegant birds in constant motion, darting here and there to pick up tiny insects from the grass. This behaviour makes them conspicuous in a garden or town centre, but in the more natural habitat of the shadows by a flowing stream they can be hard to spot.

On a website on British garden birds it says they are sometimes mistaken for a young magpie. An interesting idea but I am not convinced.

Slight panic today when my camera stopped working. Took the card and battery out left it for a minute and put them back and it sprang back into life, phew.
