Winter rose....

....adore the rich velvet petals against the contrasting creamy centre, a delight from my winter garden.

It was an outside day for me under very overcast conditions but not too cold once I got moving, 11C. I swept, raked, collected bundles of cabbage tree leaves, cut back perennials and generally tidied up. The garden is waking up with camellias in bloom, hellebores joining them, leaves of freesias in full force and so many buds on the magnolias and rhododendrons full of hope for an early spring.
