Through the square window . . .

After a wet and windy day yesterday, not to mention sleet and gales, this morning was dryish so Ollie and I set out to make the most of it. Because the fields are so waterlogged and the tracks are pure mud, I decided on a road walk, hoping that that would mean Ollie wouldn't get quite so mucky.

The first deep ditch we came to and he was in it! Up to his shoulders in black, muddy water! The temptation to shear him is very strong at times - a short haired dog would be so much easier to keep clean! As it is when we get home he goes into the sea, lies down up to his neck, dips his head in, comes out and has a good shake then comes in for a good towelling down and a bed by the radiator. Which explains the seaside-y smell which follows him about! I hasten to add that he does also get regular proper baths, with bubbles and warm water!

This is taken through the window of a ruin near the old boats on our return from the walk, by which time the sun had come out.
