Dad waves hello
Mono Monday: Noël
Dad is now 89 and suffering from Parkinsons Disease which continues to exert its horrible toll upon him. I visited him at his care home this evening and for a very pleasant change he was on really good form. He was fully awake and aware and took charge of the conversation from the off, wanting to know the news - how his other children were doing and what their children, his grandchildren were doing.
I asked him to wave to the rest of his family for the camera and have assured him that I would circulate this photo to everyone. As you can see he even managed a brief smile, that's a pretty rare thing to see from someone with Parkinsons.
When I saw him last week, he was in a wheel chair and we only managed 15 minutes before he needed to go back inside. Today he was walking with a Zimmer frame and he was still game for more conversation after 40 minutes, but sadly we had over-run our slot by 10 minutes already and so I had to say good bye, for today.
