Today I looked at the back of this framed pair of photos, for the first time, and discovered the subject is my great-grandmother Amie.  I remember visiting her in her Edinburgh flat when I was about 5.  She was born in Ireland in 1879, one of 13 children (see extra).  She married my great-grandfather in 1902, six years after her sister had married his brother.  She spent much of her life travelling, apparently including Japan.
