Supper, from local farmers

This spring we heard about a local farmer who was moving into her second year of growing produce for this community. As I understand it the family farm had some available land and the daughter decided to become a produce farmer. To become the next generation of her family farmers.

So we signed up and gave her our money for the year. Now each week she will bring us, and all her customers, a collection of produce from her labour and her land. Today was the first delivery for the year.

It was exciting to see the different things that were included in today’s delivery.

Lauralea set to work to put together a pretty amazing supper. And she included a T-bone from Brian.

(I should explain. Brian was a cow raised by one of the church kids as part of their 4-H club, cattle raising training. Then at the end of the year of raising they are sold in an auction. That’s life in a rural farming community.)

So this was our first supper of locally grown food. A rare opportunity in this world.

If today is any indication, this is going to be fun, and healthy.
