Our own Little Egret
Went out for a walk today with the dogs. I'm on the mend. Down on Whitehall Marshes I saw this lovely bird - Canterbury's own Little Egret - who has returned. I haven't seen it for three or four months. Of course it might not be the same one that's been here (intermittently, but often) for the last three or four years. I wasn't particularly proud of this shot, but the bird didn't hang about for retakes. I love these birds; much more graceful and elegant than herons but with the same gaukishness. I think I first saw one less than ten years ago but they seem to be quite widespread now.
