Cormorant
The River Mersey was very high today, there must have been lots of rain in the Welsh Hills (if that’s where it starts).
This really disturbed the bird-life, the ducks and geese hugged the banks as there was a fast current, the Swifts & Wagtails went hyper-active scooping down on the river, the Crows & Gulls scrapped and a Cormorant took advantage of the wider river to go fishing. It got a large fish, which was gulped down in one swift action. I was photographing the Swifts at the time (or rather, I was trying to) and didn’t have time to get in focus, before it was all over. So, here’s a shot of it drying it’s wings after, not bothering to get out of the water.
