I Write the Songs

After a slightly rushed, clandestine meeting a month back, it was great to meet up properly with my friend Stuart today. Went to a local coffee shop. Quite strict with their Covid measures, had to give name and address, wait for table to be cleaned then order taken at table and only contactless payment. Staff were wearing masks but not customers. Tables were set well apart and there were also screens where necessary. But once coffees had been delivered, it all felt relatively normal.
Back to the house then for Stu to play me a few of the songs he’d been working on during lockdown. The group was formed last year and launched their first album in February. Sadly, the pandemic put paid to any live gigs but the enforced isolation proved positive in terms of new songs being composed. Never mind “difficult second album”, there is actually a surfeit of material waiting to be properly recorded and mixed. Perhaps they should call it the “frankly piss easy second album”!!
