Unexpected Abstract

Ingeborg asked us to look for an unexpected abstract for today's challenge. We found this quite tricky! How unexpected should it be?

My Editor and I went for a walk round the Rising Sun Country Park (one of our favourite local haunts), all the while looking for something unexpected. We took various photos but weren't happy with any of them as they were all pretty predictable - not really unexpected at all. Then towards the end of our walk we passed a small pond: although there wasn't much wind we expected to see some ripples, but what we didn't expect was to find some insects in a sheltered, calm area of the pond creating their own ripple patterns. Blip sorted - I've tweaked the colour and clarity a bit but the abstract pattern is just as it came out of the camera.
