Itchy Fingers

Was getting slight cabin fever and itchy fingers from two days indoors with Betsy who is not well.

Spotted some long feathers (pheasant?) that I thrifted years ago in my cupboard, and strung them into a garland to hang in the kitchen window. Decided they needed something else so made these grey and purple hearts from felt and beads and threaded them between the feathers.

Was very pleased with my handiwork. Later, Al's friends mum came to collect her, and she looked at the garland and said, 'isn't that lovely?'. Just before I could puff myself up and feel all creative and clever, she beamed at Betsy and said, 'did you make that sweetheart?'.

Betsy is better and will be back at school tomorrow. She has spent the day watching Baz Lurhman's Romeo and Juliet. Not sure if this violent tragic story of star cross'd lovers is really suitable for an impressionable 11 year old but then not sure Betsy could really be described as 'impressionable' anyway.
