Banksia Nut
It was on June 12th that "freespiral" blipped a Banksia tree in New Zealand and at the time I remarked on the fact that somewhere or other I had a Banksia Nut, the holder of the seeds much like a pine cone. Well at last I have located it.
As you can see it is no longer looking like it did when it came off the tree. I turned it down on a lathe and got two nightlight holders out of it. Tricky enough to turn since catching the tool in any one of those holes with the lathe running at hundreds of revolutions per minute will lead to an inevitable explosion of Banksia nut throughout the workshop and a big red face on the turner. Full face visor essential just in case.
