Nearer, My God, To Thee

From my childhood, I remember my mum's strong muscular hands, which are now so thin and weak. We spent the afternoon with her, me holding hands with her almost all the time. She was weaker than yesterday. The afternoon ended with her last communion served by the priest, whom she wanted to do it. It was witnessed by her deceased grandson's widow and her current husband, my wife, and me. The event started with us singing this beautiful hymn, which was so touching that tears ran down my cheeks. My mum was so very happy afterwards. She is now fully prepared.
