 An email arrived from Emirates this morning - flight cancelled, sorry for any inconvenience - and that was it! Whaaaat? It looks like Emirates have removed chunks of their economy seats and replaced them with cargo spaces  and we suspect all economy passengers have just been dismissed! The next available flights in economy are not until September, looking on the website, and we might have to bite the the bullet and have to go for business class and live on lentils when we get home. Other options are very limited and involve long waits either in Los Angeles or Brisbane and more money. Our heads are wrecked trying to sort it all out and that's before we've even tried to ring up Emirates to get it sorted. 
Maybe we'll just stay here! This little place would do very nicely and it looks empty, past on the big circuit which we did in an attempt to clear heads.  We carried on to the beach, had lunch (outside) at Totally Roasted and then wandered home. See extra for the final approach.
