Red-tipped Clearwing
I opened the dining room curtains this morning and the first thing I saw was this beautiful Clearwing. I believe its the nationally scarce Red-tipped Clearwing (Synanthedon formicaeformis), a day flying moth. A good start to the day.
Added Essex Skipper and Purple Hairstreak to my butterfly list which has now reached 37 species. I'm unlikely to get many more this year, perhaps a total of 40.
