The Shadows in My Life
For me, Blip is about finding the beauty in each day, no matter how difficult or how down I feel. But am always aware that this might make my life look picture perfect, and could make others feel bad about theirs - which I really don't want to do. It's a quandary.
So, to balance the bliss in yesterday's photo, some not complaints, but some "just saying"s:
- had a terrible night, too hot, felt itchy, kept imagining big spiders after we got one right by my pillow, couldn't read because that would attract the bugs
- even hanging out the clothes was an ordeal - blazing sun (should have done it earlier, but too slow after the bad night) and the ground covered in tiny, prickly burrs that stick to whatever you wear on your feet that you have to pick off every time you come inside
- decided to tackle a palm tree that is lethal - stabs you whenever you walk past - no tool was long enough to do it safely - ended up sawing the branches off and got stabbed everywhere - holes bleeding and painful
- not wanting to waste the shade they could give, almost gave myself sunstroke staying out past midday wiring them to the fence, which will also give a bit more privacy from the Roma church below
- I then tackled kilos of cherries, trying to pit them with an inadequate tool, the top of an olive oil dispenser - sticky mess everywhere, and can I bear to have the oven on to bake a cherry pie anyway?
- it's now gone 8pm, and still 38°C (100.4F), and set to go up even more this week, to way over 40... When it's cold, you can bundle up and walk, but when it's this hot, there's nothing you can do but shelter inside
- our whole family have gone on holiday together today, would love to be with them (but glad they are all together again)
So, you see? Every life has shadows - thankfully! (Grateful for every shadow at the moment.)
Gratefuls:
- getting a good nap with the air con on - we can only use it when the sun is shining and charging the batteries
- we can walk round the garden without getting punctured now
- Mike has finished the grouting in the two middle rooms
