Cambridge University Press bookshop
Went into Cambridge with Ian ostensibly to buy a present for Max on his 16th birthday. In reality, the present is coming via Amazon Prime tomorrow so we only needed to find a suitable card. It was a good excuse for us to break the boredom having endured lockdown since 20th March. So we enjoyed a coffee and some cake on King's Parade before stocking up on some kitchen essentials.
Throughout my life I've referred to this shop as Bowes and Bowes (which it used to be) before being acquired by W H Smith in the 1950s. It claims to be the oldest bookshop in the country there having been books sold on this site since 1581. Gonville & Caius College which can be seen in the background is a little older having been founded in 1348.
