Drinking fountain

This colonnaded drinking fountain is believed to be the last of its type in Britain. It is a faience drinking fountain made by Royal Doulton, presented in 1913 by a former president of the British Women's Temperance Association. It originally stood inside the entrance to Newport's Belle Vue Park but by the 1990s, the effects of weather and vandalism had reduced it to a sorry state. It was sympathetically restored, and was relocated to its present site outside St Woolos Cathedral in 1996. It is Grade II Listed.
