A Hazy Shade of Winter
A tiny skiff of snow overnight left less than an inch of new snow. Just enough to make it pretty.
This snow scene depicts one of the side roads near where I live. On this side of the road is a house with some trees, a fence, and a little stream. Sometimes there are cows in the field to the immediate left, just outside the frame of this photo.
On the other side of the road is a huge, wide-open field full of golden grasses and a barn. And yes, sometimes there are cows there too.
Pennsylvania is a big dairy production state - I read somewhere recently that we are ranked fifth in the nation for dairy production. And now, having said all of that, and having built up your expectations, I am sorry to admit there are no cows in this particular shot.
On this day, although you can't really see them in this picture, I spotted cat tracks along the little creek. One of the local barn cats searching out a snack, no doubt.
Look around. What few leaves are left . . . are brown. And the sky? It's a hazy shade of winter. (Song cue: Hazy Shade of Winter, by Simon and Garfunkel.)
