Historic Scotland for Free!!!!!!

The nice people of Historic Scotland were having a free weekend to all their properties.We considered queuing with the lumpen proliteriate at Edinburgh Castle (Golla gee Wilbur is this where Mel Gibson won the war), but we're made of stouter stuff here in mince and porridge land and of we went in our panda's south to the historic wee toon of Melrose.
The Abbey "free today sir but can we interest you in joining....credit card...direct debit....money aff!!", no thanks.
Established in 1136 this was a Cistercian abbey right up to the last monk died in 1590, so this land has been prime for re-development for some time, Wimpey could have knocked up a fair few semi's (morning prayers crescent, vespers way).
