Swifts
A rather minimalist image of two swifts above our garden at breakfast time this morning. Every summer, I have a go at taking photos of swifts; there are many misses and a few hits. Wet and windy weather definitely stops play too (and sometimes kills off a lot of swifts, as it stops them feeding). This morning I had no time to change to the long lens that I've tried out earlier this year, so I experimented with the 50mm Sigma Art lens that was on the camera already. Thus the image here is heavily cropped, as they were quite high up. They're busy feeding at every opportunity, as they'll be leaving on the southward migration before too long. They are very beautiful, especially when the sunlight catches the lighter feathers on their wings. It was a lovely 15 minutes, watching them, before the start of a busy day.
