Splendid isolation....
... until we came along. I'm continuing the theme of independence from yesterday. These two had sought some peace and quiet along the beach where the seawall deviates inland for a few hundred yards so taking walkers and cyclists away from the seashore. It was a perfect place to while away a warm, sunny afternoon in a glorious spot. We've come to the conclusion that's what we like too. We didn't intrude for too long and they'll never know they were a subject for blip.
We enjoyed a fine walk along the North Kent Coast from Beltinge near Herne Bay to just a couple of miles to the east of Reculver. It's a part of the coast we often visit usually on our bikes as we cycle the Viking Way. A picnic lunch was had at Reculver with a coffee afterwards at the HatHat Coffee House which has opened since we were here last year. Good coffee too and we shared a small piece of flapjack. Tut tut!
The plants along the coast hereabouts is fascinating. The extra shows what look like a daisy and we saw a superb yellow umbellifer which Susan thinks is Wild Parsnip but isn't sure. There were yellow poppies growing on the beach (she did tell me their name - edit, yellow horned poppy) and all manner of other flowering plants. We saw a buzzard, kestrel and sand martins amongst other birds too. A marvellous day.
Instead of calling in at the King Ethlebert pub as we would have done had we been cycling we have that pleasure awaiting us tonight.
