Grandmothers and Sucking Eggs

Over the last week to 10 days these have appeared.

Given that I counted at least 10 of these, scattered around a 6 mile section of the Worth Way, I'm assuming these have been ordered in bulk by a less than cost-conscious county council. Even individually, they may come cheap, they certainly cost, in terms of labour, someone to go out and fix them to various posts.

For what effect? Horses still deposit huge quantities of dung in the middle of the path-way. Walkers happily walk 2 or 3 abreast and swerve around the horse dung ,then growl at you for tinkling a bell to squeeze past.
