Hot hens

The heat, after a couple of cooler days mid-week, was almost unbearable today. The hens spend most of their days in the woods at the bottom of the garden, where it is a bit cooler. They seem to get bored in the evening and come seeking company.

Today, they were rewarded with a cucumber (which they tore to pieces with a level of violence that was quite intimidating).

Meanwhile, after a morning spent weeding and planting (probably foolishly given the heat), I had a lazy afternoon, and then won parent of the year by making lactose-free mint choc chip ice cream, and regular lavender ice cream.

And there’s some backblipping.
